A Right Royal Makeover

Below is my comment on your article of "A Right Royal Makeover " Page 36 TIME, November 7, 2005

British royal family still has a big image problem solely due to Prince Charles’ unhappy past with Diana not only to the people in England but in the rest of the world. I am one of them who still have some doubts on him.

He will be happy to read your article showing his good image as a philanthropist who is leading more than 15 foundations raising big money and attracting ten of thousands of volunteers.

However, whether or not he can restore his image depends not on the official outings with a new wife Camilla arranged by his royal staff, but on his continuous and silent effort at home to contribute to those who have not with his strong passion and belief. Public relations by his staff could be easily found out and add minus images.

How to Kick the Oil Habit

Below is my comment on the TIME article of "How to Kick the Oil Habbit" Page 26 TIME, October 31, 2005

As you pointed out in your article, the hybrid cars of Honda and Toyota got a lot of attention from other carmakers such as GM and Mercedes-Benz in the Tokyo Motor Show because of the recent rise of oil price and they are desperately trying hard to find a technological breakthrough for their oil-conserving models.
The stakes are high for those carmakers because less fuel cars decides their survival from now on.
However, for the individuals in our society as a whole, it seems that nothing particular has changed in our energy exhausting habit as compared with the oil crisis in the seventies and eighties, mainly because we still lack crisis awareness deep in mind. As we have already lost an enormous lead time since then, we should prepare for the coming hardship caused by energy crisis and try everything needed to avoid it. Conservation is only the start for our firm determination.
