"Made in China"----Can we trust?

Below is my comment on the article of "The Growing Dangers of the China Trade", TIME dated on July 9, 2007.

中国の工場ラインYour article on the tainted imports “made in China” reminds me of a huge number of products made in Japan once notorious for its cheap price with bad quality exported to the world when Japan tried to recover from the ashes of World War II. However, after several decades most of our goods and services gained its fame and trust from all over the world because both corporate managers and workers tried hard to constantly improve its quality to earn the full trust of severe domestic consumers first, then of overseas ones at last.

I am sure that China could do the same only if Chinese consumers keep sharp eyes on their own products and demand better and safer qualities as the Japanese and western consumers do.

For the time being until Chinese consumers begin to awake, however, Beijing and local authorities need to give tougher regulations to greedy and dirty corporate managers making those tainted products.
